Overview
Cloudflare’s Network settings allow you to optimise how visitors connect to your website across different internet protocols. These configurations ensure compatibility with modern standards like IPv6 while providing legacy support for older server environments and providing geographic data for custom content delivery.
By fine-tuning these settings, you can manage how visitor IP addresses are reported to your server and set limits on data uploads to prevent server strain.
Step-by-Step:
- Login to your Client Area account
- Navigate to Cloud Services > My Products & Services and select your Cloudflare service.
- On the left-hand sidebar menu, click on Network.
- IPv6 Compatibility: Toggle the switch to On to enable IPv6 support for your domain.
- Pseudo IPv4: Choose one of the following from the dropdown menu:
- Off: Default setting; no translation is applied.
- Add Header: Adds a Cf-Pseudo-IPv4 header containing an IPv4 address derived from the visitor's original IPv6.
- Overwrite Headers: Automatically overwrites the standard IP headers with a pseudo-IPv4 address while preserving the original IPv6 in a separate header.
- IP Geolocation: When enabled, Cloudflare includes the visitor's country code in the CF-IPCountry header for every request sent to your server, allowing you to personalise content based on location.
- Maximum Upload Size: Select the desired limit from the dropdown menu (e.g., 100 MB). This setting limits the amount of data a visitor can upload to your website in a single request (such as a large file upload or form submission).
