Overview
This article explains how to configure your email account on an iPhone, including using IMAP or POP3 protocols and enabling SSL encryption. iPhone’s built-in Mail app allows you to connect to your custom domain email and manage your inbox on the go.
Set Up Email on iPhone
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap Mail > Accounts > Add Account.
- Select Other as the account type.
- Tap Add Mail Account, then enter the following:
- Name: The name you want recipients to see
- Email: Your full email address (e.g., [email protected])
- Password: Your email password
- Description: (Optional) A label for the account
- Tap Next, then choose either IMAP or POP.
Manual Email Configuration
Incoming Mail Server
- Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com
- Username: Your full email address
- Password: Your email password
Outgoing Mail Server
- Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com
- Username: Your full email address
- Password: Your email password
- After filling all fields, tap Next, then Save.
- Go back to Mail > Accounts to confirm that the account has been added.
- Return to the home screen and open the Mail app to access your inbox.
Set Up Email Using Encrypted Port 465 (SMTP)
To configure your email with SSL encryption for outgoing messages:
- Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts.
- Select your email account, then tap SMTP under Outgoing Mail Server.
- Tap the server listed under Primary Server.
- Make sure:
- Use SSL: Enabled
- Server Port: 465
- Save changes and return to Mail to test sending an email.
