MongoDB has long been available in Virtuozzo Application Management as a certified container stack. Earlier versions (prior to 4.0.4) were provided free of charge, while later versions required a paid license under MongoDB Inc.’s updated terms. For a limited time, Virtuozzo was able to make commercial MongoDB 6 and 7 available with an additional fee.
Following changes on the vendor side, it is no longer possible for Virtuozzo to offer the commercial editions of MongoDB.
What Changes
- Commercial MongoDB (v4.0.4 and higher) has been removed from the supported stack list.
- Provisioning of new commercial MongoDB clusters and related DBaaS automation features (such as updates, horizontal scaling, auto-clustering, cloning, redeploy, migration, and password reset) are no longer available.
What Remains Unchanged
- Free MongoDB versions (earlier than v4.0.4) remain available in the platform as before. Please note, however, that these older versions are already at end-of-life (EOL), so they should be used with caution and awareness of their limitations.
- Customers may also run MongoDB as a custom Docker image, fully self-managed and thus outside the scope of licensing restrictions.
Options Going Forward
- Explore high-performance alternatives such as Percona or PostgreSQL, which remain fully supported.
- Run your own MongoDB Docker image for full control of newer versions.
- Continue using free MongoDB stacks (pre-4.0.4) within Virtuozzo Application Management.
Virtuozzo remains committed to giving users flexible, cost-efficient choices for database workloads. If you have questions or would like guidance on alternatives, please contact your account manager or our support team.
