Cloudflare Pro Caching Overview

You can control how your website’s content is cached, improving load times and reducing server load by delivering content from Cloudflare’s global network.

Key Features

  • Caching Level: Determine how much content Cloudflare caches:
    • Basic Caches only static files like images, CSS, and JavaScript, without caching HTML or other dynamic content.
    • Simple – Caches static files and some dynamic content, providing a balance between performance and up-to-date content.
    • Aggressive – Caches everything, including static and dynamic content, as well as files with query strings, for maximum performance.
  • Browser Cache Expiration: Set how long visitors’ browsers should cache content before checking for updates from the server. This helps reduce the load on your server and speeds up page load times for returning visitors.
  • Purge Cache (Individual Files): When updates are made, clear the cache for specific files to ensure visitors see the latest version of your content immediately.
  • Purge Cache (All Files): Instantly clear the entire cache across Cloudflare’s network, forcing a fresh copy of your website to be fetched from the origin server.
  • Always Online: Enable Always Online to serve a cached version of your website to visitors even if your origin server goes down, ensuring continuous availability.
  • Development Mode: You can temporarily bypass caching to see real-time changes while updating your site. This mode automatically turns off after 3 hours.
