Overview
Securing your website with an SSL certificate is crucial for both SEO and user trust. Plesk makes it easy to install SSL certificates. Here’s a guide to help you install your SSL certificate and ensure your website is fully secure.
Obtain Your SSL Certificate
To continue with the installation of the SSL certificate in Plesk, you must have the following files:
- Your certificate file (usually with a .crt extension)
- Private Key
The CA's root certificate and intermediate certificates (sometimes bundled in a .ca-bundle file) are optional but recommended for full chain validation.
Upload the SSL Certificate in Plesk
- Log into Plesk.
- Navigate to Websites & Domains.
- Select the domain where you want to install the SSL certificate.
- Go to SSL/TLS Certificates under the selected domain.
- Click on Advanced Settings.
- Click on Add SSL/TLS Certificate.
- In the Add SSL/TLS Certificate interface, you'll need to enter a Name for the certificate.
- You can upload the certificate files (e.g., Private Key, Certificate, CA Certificate) or upload them as text by copying and pasting into the corresponding field.
- Click “Upload Certificate”.
Assign the SSL Certificate to the Domain in Plesk
To activate the SSL certificate for your domain:
- Log into Plesk.
- Navigate to Websites & Domains.
- Click on Hosting Settings under your domain.
- In the Hosting Settings interface, locate the SSL/TLS Support section.
- From the Certificate dropdown menu, select the name of the certificate you just uploaded.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
