How to Manage DNS in Plesk

Overview

One of the key features of Plesk is its Domain Name System (DNS) management capabilities, which allow you to control how your website domain name resolves to an IP address on the internet.
This article will guide you through managing DNS in Plesk.

Managing DNS Settings

  1. Log in to your Plesk panel account.
  2. Go to the Websites & Domains page and click on the flag icon (Change DNS Zone Settings) located on the right side of the domain name whose records you want to change.

  1. To disable DNS completely, click on Disable.
  2. To restore the default DNS settings, click on Reset to Default.

Adding DNS Records

You can add many different types of DNS records to a domain's DNS zone (e.g. CNAME, MX, TXT, and more).

  1. Go to the DNS Settings page as shown above.
  2. Click on the Add Record button.
  3. In the Record type drop-down menu, select the type of record you want to create.

To add an A record

  1. In the Record type drop-down menu, select A.
  2. In the Domain Name field, enter the subdomain name.
  3. In the IP address field, enter the server's IP address.
  4. Click OK to add the record.

To add a CNAME record

  1. In the Record type drop-down menu, select CNAME.
  2. In the Domain Name field, enter the subdomain name.
  3. In the Canonical name field, enter the desired name.
  4. Click OK to add the record.

To add an MX record

  1. In the Record type drop-down menu, select MX.
  2. In the Mail domain field, enter the email domain name.
  3. In the Mail exchange server field, enter the email server address.
  4. In the Specify the priority of the mail exchange server drop-down menu, select the importance value for each mail server.
  5. Click OK to add the record.

To add a TXT record

  1. In the Record type drop-down menu, select TXT.
  2. In the Domain Name field, enter the subdomain name.
  3. In the TXT record field, enter the record value.
  4. Click OK to add the record.

Deleting DNS Records

  1. Log in to your Plesk panel account.
  2. Click on Website & Domains > DNS Settings.
  3. In the records list, select the checkbox next to the record you want to delete.
  4. Click on the Remove button.
