.med.ly Domain Registration Requirements

Restricted extension: .med.ly is reserved for healthcare entities in Libya. The medical facility or healthcare entity must hold a valid licence from the relevant authority. Domain availability alone does not establish eligibility or guarantee registration.

Who can register a .med.ly domain?

NIC.LY identifies .med.ly as a dedicated namespace for Libyan healthcare entities, including hospitals, medical clinics and pharmacies. A general business or personal website does not qualify simply because its name includes a medical term.

Registration requirements

Prepare the following information and licence documentation so Libyan Spider can review your request:

RequirementDetails
Requested domain nameSpecify the full domain, for example example.med.ly. Choose a name that identifies your healthcare entity and does not infringe another party’s rights.
Valid healthcare licenceProvide a clear copy of the valid licence issued by the authority responsible for licensing your medical facility or healthcare activity in Libya. The issuing authority depends on the type of entity and activity.
Official entity detailsProvide the entity’s official name, healthcare activity, address, telephone number and email address. Ensure the details are consistent with the licence.
Administrative contactProvide the responsible person’s name, position, telephone number and email address. If applying on behalf of the entity, explain your role; evidence of authorization may be requested.
Technical contact and nameserversProvide the technical contact’s details and the intended nameservers if available. Ask Support to confirm the DNS setup required before registration is completed.

Document review: The licence establishes the healthcare activity to be reviewed. Libyan Spider may request clarification or additional documents for the particular entity. NIC.LY’s public rules do not provide a complete, fixed .med.ly document checklist; confirm any additional requirements with Support.

How to submit a registration request

  1. Choose your requested .med.ly domain and prepare the valid healthcare licence and entity/contact details.
  2. Open a support ticket in the Client Area and state that you want to register a .med.ly domain. Include the requested name and attach the licence documentation.
  3. Libyan Spider will review the information and advise you of any corrections, additional documents or registration steps required.
  4. Complete any requested application information and respond to document-review queries. Registration is subject to the applicable registry requirements.
  5. Wait for confirmation that registration has completed before treating the domain as registered. Follow the confirmed nameserver and DNS instructions to connect your website or email.

Important points

  • The applicant must be an eligible Libyan healthcare entity with the appropriate valid licence. A medical-related domain name by itself is insufficient.
  • Use accurate registrant and contact information and keep it up to date. The domain must comply with NIC.LY’s naming rules and applicable policies.
  • An available name, submitted request or payment does not by itself confirm that registration has been approved or completed.
  • Document review can affect completion time. Ask Support for the current process and the current registration and renewal fees; this guide does not promise an approval deadline.

Do I need hosting before applying?

You can contact Support to review eligibility and registration requirements before choosing hosting. Domain registration and hosting are separate services. If you already have hosting or email elsewhere, provide the intended nameservers so the DNS requirements can be checked.

Need help with your eligibility or licence?

Contact Libyan Spider Support with the requested domain, the type of healthcare entity and the licence details. Support can confirm what is needed for your particular application.
