How to Manage WordPress Plugins Using WP Toolkit

Overview

WP Toolkit can install, upload, activate, deactivate, update, and remove WordPress plugins.

View Installed Plugins

  1. Open WP Toolkit.
  2. Select the WordPress installation.
  3. Open the Plugins tab.

The list normally shows each plugin’s:

  • Name
  • Version
  • Activation status
  • Update availability
  • Automatic-update status

Install a Plugin

  1. Click Install.
  2. Search for the required plugin or upload its package, if supported.
  3. Review the plugin name, developer, compatibility, and update history.
  4. Install it.
  5. Activate it if required.
  6. Test the website.

Install plugins only from trusted sources.

Activate or Deactivate a Plugin

Use the status control beside the plugin to activate or deactivate it.

Deactivation can be useful for troubleshooting, but it may immediately disable website functions.

Update Plugins

  1. Create or confirm a recent backup.
  2. Review available plugin updates.
  3. Select the required plugins.
  4. Click Update.
  5. Test the affected website functions.

Update critical plugins separately when practical so that problems are easier to identify.

Configure Automatic Updates

Enable automatic updates only for trusted and actively maintained plugins. Continue to monitor the website after updates.

Delete a Plugin Safely

Before deletion:

  1. Confirm that the website no longer uses the plugin.
  2. Create a backup.
  3. Deactivate the plugin.
  4. Test the website.
  5. Delete it only after confirming that it is no longer required.

Deleting a plugin may not remove its database tables, uploaded files, or stored settings.

  • Remove unused plugins.
  • Avoid duplicate plugins that provide the same function.
  • Do not use nulled, pirated, or untrusted plugin packages.
  • Replace abandoned plugins.
  • Keep valid licences for premium plugins.
  • Do not install a plugin solely because it appears in search results.
