How to Detach or Remove a WordPress Website from WP Toolkit

Overview

WP Toolkit provides two different actions:

  • Detach: Stops WP Toolkit from managing the installation without deleting the website.
  • Remove: May permanently delete the WordPress website and its associated data.

Review the selected action carefully.

Detach a Website

  1. Open WP Toolkit.
  2. Locate the installation.
  3. Open its action menu.
  4. Select Detach.
  5. Confirm the action.

After detaching:

  • Website files remain.
  • The database remains.
  • The website should continue operating.
  • WP Toolkit stops managing it.
  • The installation may be detected again later through scanning.

Use Detach when you only want to remove the website from WP Toolkit management.

Remove a Website

The Remove operation may delete:

  • Website files
  • WordPress database
  • Database user
  • WP Toolkit backup data
  • Other selected installation components

Before Removing an Installation

  1. Confirm the exact domain.
  2. Confirm the installation path.
  3. Create a final backup.
  4. Download or store the backup independently.
  5. Confirm that no other website shares the database.
  6. Confirm that no other website depends on the directory.
  7. Review every component selected for deletion.
  8. Confirm that you no longer require the website.

Remove the Installation

  1. Open the installation menu.
  2. Select Remove.
  3. Review the components that will be deleted.
  4. Confirm only if the target and backup have been verified.
  5. Wait for the operation to finish.

Warning: Removal is destructive and may permanently delete the website. Detaching and removing are not interchangeable.
