How to Manage Add-on Domains via cPanel

An add-on domain allows visitors to access a subfolder on your website by typing the add-on domain name in their browser. This means you can host multiple websites on the same hosting account.

Creating Add-on Domains

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. On the main dashboard, go to the Domains section.
  3. Click the Create A New Domain button.
  4. Enter the add-on domain name.
  5. Uncheck the Share document root option so that this domain is not created as an alias of the main domain.
  6. The Subdomain and Document Root fields will be filled automatically.
  7. Click Submit.

Creating an FTP Account Linked to the Add-on Domain

If you want to create an FTP account linked to the add-on domain, follow these steps:

  1. Check the box next to Create FTP Account.
  2. Enter the Username.
  3. Enter and confirm the Password.
  4. Specify the path where the add-on domain’s files will be stored.
  5. The domain name will appear in the list at the bottom of the page, where you can redirect or delete the add-on domain.
Note

To add any add-on domain to your hosting, the nameserver records of the domain must match the nameservers of your main hosting domain. You can verify and update this as explained in the lesson on Updating Domain Nameservers.
