Overview
A WordPress website installed manually or migrated from another server may not automatically appear in WP Toolkit. The Scan function can detect eligible installations within your cPanel account.
Scan for WordPress Installations
- Log in to cPanel.
- Open WP Toolkit.
- Click Scan.
- Wait for the scan to complete.
- Review the detected installations.
A detected website should appear as a new installation card.
If the Website Is Not Detected
Confirm that:
- The WordPress files belong to the current cPanel account.
- The installation is inside a directory accessible to the account.
- The installation contains
wp-config.php. wp-config.phpcontains correct database credentials.- The WordPress database exists.
- File ownership and permissions are valid.
- WordPress core files are sufficiently complete.
- The website is not only a static copy without a functional database.
- The installation has not been marked as detached and blocked from future scans.
Verify the Detected Website
After the installation appears:
- Confirm the displayed domain and path.
- Open the public website.
- Test Log in.
- Review the detected WordPress version.
- Check for available updates.
- Review its backup and security status.
Do not immediately apply all updates to a newly detected or migrated website. Create a backup and review compatibility first.
Detach and Scan Again
Detaching an installation removes it from WP Toolkit management without deleting the website.
A detached installation may sometimes be added again by scanning, depending on how it was detached and the available interface options. If WP Toolkit offers an option to remove the installation from the list of ignored installations, use it before scanning again.
