Overview
.ly Domains follow a specific life cycle after registration and expiry. Unlike some other domain extensions, .ly Domains are not automatically renewed by the registry upon expiration.

What Happens When a .ly Domain Expires?
When a .ly domain reaches its expiry date, it is not automatically renewed by the registry.
After expiry:
- The domain may be suspended after 1 day.
- Website, email, DNS, and related services may stop working.
- The domain cannot be transferred while it is expired or suspended.
- The domain may still be renewable for a limited time, depending on its status.

Can I Transfer an Expired .ly Domain?
No. Expired or suspended .ly domains cannot be transferred.
If you want to transfer a .ly Domain: it must be active and eligible for transfer. If your domain has already expired, you may need to renew it before you can request a transfer.
Redemption Period
If a .ly If the domain remains expired for an extended period, it may be deleted after 45 days.
The redemption period lasts 30 days.
During redemption, restoring the domain may still be possible, but it is not guaranteed. A restore request is subject to registry rules, domain status, timing, applicable fees, and internal approval.

Pending Delete Period
After redemption, the domain may enter a 5-day pending delete period.
During this stage, the domain is usually no longer renewable or restorable. After the pending delete ends, the domain may be purged from the registry and may become available for public registration.
Once a domain becomes available publicly, anyone may be able to register it.
Domain Registered by Mistake
If you registered a .ly domain by mistake, contact Libyan Spider Support immediately.
Publicly, deletion requests for newly registered .ly domains must be submitted within 48 hours of registration. However, submitting a request does not guarantee deletion, reversal, or refund. The request is subject to review, registry rules, domain status, timing, and internal approval.
Renewal Reversal Requests
If a .ly domain renewal was made by mistake, contact Libyan Spider Support as soon as possible.
A renewal reversal may only be possible within a limited registry grace period. We cannot publicly promise a specific number of days, and reversal is not guaranteed.
Each request is reviewed based on:
- Domain status
- Time since renewal
- Registry rules
- Internal approval
- Whether the renewal can still be reversed
If the domain is no longer eligible for reversal, the renewal will remain active and cannot be refunded or canceled.
